Human Resources Professional required for busy Greenhouse in both Burlington & Waterdown.

  • Identify current and prospective staffing requirements, prepare and post notices and advertisements, and collect and screen applications;
  • Recruitment & Selection of all Greenhouse Personnel, advertising all open positions, conducting telephone screening, interviews, job fairs, career days;
  • Review candidate inventories and contact potential applicants to arrange interviews and transfers, redeployment and placement of personnel;
  • Employee onboarding, development, needs assessment, and training;
  • Provides necessary education and materials to managers and employees including online courses, employee handbooks, and standardized reports;
  • Establishes an in-house employee training system that addresses company training needs including training needs assessment, or orientation, production cross-training, the measurement of training impact;
  • Advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures;
  • Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee- employer morale and motivation;
  • Organize and administer staff consultation and grievance procedures;
  • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company. Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees;
  • Reviews, guides, and approves management recommendations for employment terminations;
  • Reviews employee appeals through the company complaint procedure; and
  • Determine eligibility to entitlements, arrange staff training and provide information or services such as employee assistance, counselling and recognition programs.

Defined requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources;
  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources required;
  • Previous experience working for a Greenhouse and conducting recruitment of all roles within the greenhouse setting;
  • Previous experience working with multicultural and diverse employees;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural employees from diverse background.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement, preferred;
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Human Resources Management and practices; and
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships within the greenhouse/farming community along with other industries.
